About Us

 The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee will be celebrating its 36th Annual Birthday Parade. The Committee was founded in November 1981 celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by keeping the dream alive. We cordially invite the Las Vegas community to join us in this celebration at the largest parade in the state of Nevada. This year’s theme: Living the Dream: “The Movement Continues.” The parade will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 in downtown Las Vegas beginning at 10 a.m.

  • Parade Details

    This year’s theme: “Living The Dream – Building a Bridge to Unity.”. The parade will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, in downtown Las Vegas beginning at 10:00 a.m.

  • Parade Line-Up

    The parade starts at Fourth Street and Gass Avenue, head North on Fourth Street to Ogden (where it will conclude).  The parade will disburse on Fourth Street and Stewart.  CLICK HERE for 2018 Parade Line-up.

  • Parade Rules

    DO NOT THROW CANDY OR ANY ITEMS AT ANY TIME DURING THE PARADE because of possible injury to parade participants or spectators.

2018 Parade Grand Marshals

Tya R. Mathis-Coleman is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is a proud product of the Clark County School District and the Nevada System of Higher Education. She received her Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno and she received her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2007.   Click here for more info

Pastor, philanthropist and playwright, Rev. Kelcey Anderson West was born on February 12, 1971 in Pontiac, Michigan.  A 1996 graduate of UNLV, Rev. Kelcey will soon receive a Master’s in Theological Studies from Faith Seminary. During his undergraduate studies at UNLV, Pastor West created 32nd Street Theater a non-profit theater company in 1992.     Click here for more info
