PARADE AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE

You may recognize Trinitee Stokes as Judy Cooper from the Disney Channel original series, K.C. Undercover. 
Trinitee began her acting career at the tender age of 3, when she debuted in one of her mother’s stage play productions, and hasn’t stopped since.  Using that foundation, since moving to Caifornia, she regularly book roles in national commercial, TV pilots, web series, short and feature films.  Off the camera, Trinitee is a gifted voiceover artist, evidenced by the use of her sweet voice for Disney’s new Princess Tiana doll.
 
Trinitee Stokes—best known as Judy Cooper from Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover—is an actress, singer, inspirational speaker, and fashion designer who knows how hard it can be to be yourself while following your dreams. Since she began entertaining at the age of 3, Trinitee has faced her share of pressure and obstacles, handling each of them with courage and charm.
 
In her first ever book, Bold and Blessed: How to Stay True to Yourself and Stand Out from the Crowd, Trinitee encourages other kids with big dreams. This book features Trinitee’s answers to real fans about friends, faith, and fame, and also includes a special photo insert with pictures from Trinitee’s childhood to now. Perfect for readers 8 and up, Bold and Blessed will empower girls and boys to chase what matters most and have fun along the way!

Banquet Speaker: Kevin Powell

Kevin Powell is one of the most acclaimed political, cultural, literary and hip-hop voices in America today. The Jersey City product of a single mother, absent father, horrific poverty, and violence, he was able to study at Rutgers University in his home state of New Jersey due to the Educational Opportunity Fund created during the Civil Rights Movement. Says Kevin, “Just to be able to get to college, to be exposed to a new world, a new way, changed my life forever, and I am forever grateful to the EOF program for giving me a chance.” Kevin has gone on to be a writer who has penned articles, essays, and blogs for a wide range of newspapers and magazines and major websites, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, NPR, ESPN, Essence, Ebony, Rolling Stone, Esquire, HuffPost, and Vibe, where he was a senior writer and founding staff member. This year, Kevin has written British GQ cover stories on Black Panthermovie co-stars Michael B. Jordan (March 2018) and Chadwick Boseman (October 2018), and currently hosts an Apple Podcast called “One on One with Kevin Powell.” Kevin is the author of 13 books, including his critically acclaimed autobiography, The Education of Kevin Powell: A Boy’s Journey into Manhood, which is being adapted for television. His 14th book will be a biography of Tupac Shakur, who Kevin interviewed many times while working for Vibe. As an activist, Kevin is also a cofounder of BK Nation, a new American organization and website focused on civil and human rights and equal opportunity for all people. And he ran for Congress in New York City in 2008 and 2010. In terms of content creation, Kevin is one of the producers of “SHE, a Choreoplay,” a major theater production about ending violence against women and girls, and healing and empowerment, created by his wife Jinah Parker, the dancer, choreographer, and playwright. SHE will make its Off-Broadway debut in the second half of 2019. Kevin and his wife are proud and long-time residents of Brooklyn, New York.

About Us

 The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee will be celebrating its 36th Annual Birthday Parade. The Committee was founded in November 1981 celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by keeping the dream alive. We cordially invite the Las Vegas community to join us in this celebration at the largest parade in the state of Nevada. This year’s theme: One People, One Nation, One Dream”. The parade will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 in downtown Las Vegas beginning at 10 a.m.

    This year’s theme: “Living The Dream:  One People, One Nation, One Dream”. The parade will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019, in downtown Las Vegas beginning at 10:00 a.m.

  • Parade Line-Up

    The parade starts at Fourth Street and Gass Avenue, head North on Fourth Street to Ogden (where it will conclude).  The parade will disburse on Fourth Street and Stewart.

  • Parade Rules

    DO NOT THROW CANDY OR ANY ITEMS AT ANY TIME DURING THE PARADE because of possible injury to parade participants or spectators. 

  • Parade Regulations

    All parade entries that have vehicles, trucks and motorcycles will be expected to adhere to the following rules and guidelines.
