Anthony L.
"Tony" Gladney serves as Vice President of National Diversity
Relations for Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., the world's largest
casino-entertainment company. Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. is
headquartered in Las Vegas, owns and operates more than 40 casino
resorts in three countries.
Gladney is
responsible for assisting with the implementation of the diversity
initiative at Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. He is also the chief
liaison officer for the company's strategic partner relations
locally, regionally and nationally.
Prior to
joining Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., Gladney served in various
roles including Community, Governmental, and Diversity Affairs at
Caesars Entertainment, MGM Mirage and MGM Grand Hotel. While at the
MGM Mirage, one of the capacities in which he served was vice
president of national diversity where he assisted in the development
of the first diversity initiative in the gaming industry, which was
named one of Fortune Magazine's top 50 companies in diversity. He
also served as one of the youngest administrators in the country
while working as director of multicultural student affairs for the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas. In addition, Gladney played
professional football for the San Francisco Forty Niners from 1987
to 1988, and served as team captain on October 5, 1987 against the
New York Giants.
Gladney is
active in supporting community and industry affiliations as a Board
member of the Cultural Diversity Foundation, Urban Chamber of
Commerce and Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council. He serves
on the advisory boards for the Harrah’s Foundation, US Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and the Organization of Chinese
Americans (OCA). He is an active member of the Latin Chamber of
Commerce, Asian Chamber of Commerce, and the 100 Black Men of Las
Vegas. Gladney attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas on a
full scholarship where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Multidisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Business
Communications. Gladney was voted UNLV’s 2001 College of Liberal
Arts Alumnus of the Year Award.
Gladney is
married to his wife of 21 years and they have a daughter (19) and a
son (10). Hobbies include music, athletic activities, cooking,
family time and volunteerism. |
Judge
Karen Bennett-HaronJudge Bennett-Haron is a
native Nevadan. She graduated from Western High School, received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Hampton
University in Hampton, Virginia and received her Jurisprudence
degree
from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
Judge Bennett-Haron clerked
for the Honorable Thomas Foley and thereafter served as Assistant
Federal Public Defender. She engaged in the practice of private law
from 1991- 96, specializing in the areas of criminal defense,
municipal finance and housing. She was also General Counsel to the
Las Vegas Housing Authority and associate
bond counsel for the Clark County School District during this time.
In 1996 Judge Bennett-Haron
accepted the full time position of General Counsel for the Las Vegas
Housing Authority, where she worked until her appointment to the Las
Vegas Justice Court Bench.
In May 2002, Judge Bennett-Haron
was appointed to the Las Vegas Justice Court Bench, and became the
first African American female ever appointed to the State's justice
system at any level.
Since the May, 2002
appointment to the bench, Judge Bennett-Haron was elected by the
voters in the Las Vegas township in November 2004, to serve a six
year term as Justice of the Peace in Department 7.
Her professional and civic affiliations
include the Las Vegas Chapter National Bar Association, the National
Bar
Association Judicial Council,
the American Bar Association, the National Association of Women
Judges, the Nevada Judges Association and the National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People. Judge Bennett is the daughter
of the Reverend Marion D. Bennett and is married to Fredrick
C. Haron.
